SEPTIC PUMPING

Picture

how often do i need to have my septic tank pumped out?

The frequency is typically calculated on the number of people living in the house. However, as a general guide, it is good practice to have the septic tank emptied every four years. However, the frequency of having the septic tank emptied may increase if excess of the following enters the system:
  • harsh cleaning products such as bleach, chlorine and disinfectants;
  • foodscraps, fats, oils and grease;
  • strong medications such as antibiotics or blood pressure tablets;
  • sanitary items; and,
  • high levels of grey water.

A record of the pump out should be kept, as it may be required for some local councils. We can provide you with a septic pump-out docket once the septic tank has been emptied.

BOOK NOW
Over the years, your septic system will gradually build a layer of solids or ‘sludge’, which settles in the septic tank.

Septic pumping is the process of a vacuum truck removing the ‘sludge’, ‘scum’ and effluent, or wastewater, from your system.

Having your septic tank emptied is one of the most important things you can do to protect and prolong the life of your septic system.

Without regular emptying, the following can happen:
  • Your sewer drain could block, which may cause raw sewage to back-up into your house.
  • Raw sewage may discharge from your Overflow Relief Gully (ORG), and into your backyard.
  • Your system may build high levels of suspended solids, which can block pipes, trenches and damage pumps.
  • The quality of the final effluent is significantly reduced.

if you want to dig it, pipe it, pump it or fix it - we can do it!
